Bridging the Breastfeeding Gap 2020 - Our Stories
Welcome to the Bridging the Breastfeeding Gap Story Sharing page!
Since August 2018, Bridging the Breastfeeding Gap has been an event aimed at providing breastfeeding education and resources to employers, organizations and community members during the month of August, which is National Breastfeeding Month.
As we continue practicing social distancing during this COVID-19 pandemic, and in acknowledging racism as the root cause for underlying health conditions for Black and Indigenous people of color (BIPOC) who have been disproportionately impacted by the virus, we have made the decision not to hold a traditional workshop. Instead, we will be gathering stories from diverse voices in our community, specifically centering Black and Indigenous people of color and their birth and breastfeeding experiences of challenge, resilience and reclamation.
You may submit your story in the shape of video, a photo, and/or written word. With permission, we will share all of the collected stories here. You can come back to see your story along with the stories and images of other mothers starting August 17, 2020. Please share your story, photo, and/or video using the survey link below. Questions can be directed to Oakland County Breastfeeding Coalition at [email protected].
We look forward to sharing every unique story during the 2020 National Breastfeeding Month!
